In this video, we demonstrate the complete timing chain replacement on a Škoda Fabia with a 1.2 HTP (BZG, 12V MPI) three-cylinder petrol engine. Despite its compact design, this engine requires precision and careful attention when servicing the timing chain system.

🔍 Work covered in the video:
• Removing the timing chain drive components and the oil pump chain.
• Replacing all sprockets: two on the camshafts, two on the crankshaft, and one on the oil pump.
• Installing new guides, tensioners, and chains.
• Showing the critical wear of the chain tensioner: the piston extended 20 mm instead of the normal 6–9 mm.

🔧 Important: Special tools are required, since the camshafts do not use keyways — they must be locked from the rear side using dedicated fixtures.

🛠 About the BZG 1.2 MPI engine:

• Simple design and easy maintenance.
• Runs well on budget fuel.

❌ Weak points:
• Frequent timing chain stretching (often at 60–100,000 km).
• Lack of keyways complicates replacement without proper fixtures.
• Sensitive to oil quality and change intervals.
• Wear of guides and tensioners leads to noise, vibrations, and timing issues.

⚙️ Installation process:
• Fitting new guides, tensioners, and the timing chain according to factory marks.
• Locking the camshafts with special tools, since sprockets have no keyways.
• Tightening the sprocket bolts with new single-use fasteners.
• Installing the new oil pump chain along with its sprocket.

⚠️ Even the slightest error in timing setup may cause incorrect engine operation or severe damage, so accuracy is critical throughout the process.
