How to Replace an ABS Sensor on a BMW Z4 (PEX)

Got ten minutes? What about an illuminated ABS light? If so, that's all it usually takes to replace an ABS sensor on most European vehicles. Not only can this adversely impact braking performance and safety in subpar conditions, but it's an annoyance that is easily remedied with basic tools and quality replacement parts.

We recently had a 2007 BMW Z4 in the shop with a bank 2 ABS sensor error indicating it was in need of replacement. With winter still in full force here in Connecticut, there was no reason to keep this car gimped with a broken sensor for the safety of its occupants. Without ABS, steering ability is reduced or eliminated with locked brakes, and the chance of a spin-out is much more likely.
