DIY: BMW E39 Exterior Mirror Removal

Video tutorial on how to remove the exterior mirrors on a BMW E39. In order to gain access to the mirror base fasteners and the electrical connector for the wiring harness, you must remove the door panel. This particular car I am working with here today is a 1997 BMW 540i, but this procedure also applies to the M5 model as well despite it being a different style of mirror.
