In this DIY video, we replace a slow cranking starter on my 1997 E39 540i/6 equipped with the M62 V8. This procedure should be almost identical on the 95-01 E38 740i and very similar on the 00-03 E53 X5 with the M62TU. The earlier 92-95 E34 530i and 540i as well as the E31 & E32 with the M60 V8 also share the identical starter.
