In this video I demonstrate how to remove and replace the xenon d2s headlight bulbs in a face-lifted late model E53 series X5 SAV. This job should be done carefully as the initial charge to the bulb is in the many thousands of volts - take precautions seriously when working with xenon parts.

The standard d2s bulb by Osram part number 63217160806 is what I installed as a direct OEM replacement bulb, which retails around $50 each. It is recommended that xenon bulbs be replaced in pairs as they degrade over time, diminishing total light output over time. The bulbs I'm replacing are approximately 8 years old which is typical for a xenon light; costly to replace but enjoy better light performance than a halogen and excellent reliability and longevity.

Sometimes the igniter can go bad, resulting in a headlight out. The igniter is part number 63126907489 and are typically around $50 USD buy it here: https://amzn.to/2y4qLP0
