A video to show the tools I used in order to get the upstream O2 sensor out in readiness for replacing. The engine management light came on and using Forscan the code said that it was the heater circuit for the sensor (upstream of the catalytic converter).

I didn't video me wrestling the sensor out, but I used a grinder and a Dremel grinder (one of my favourite tools) to cut the sensor down to the point where I could use a standard 6 side 22mm socket to get directly at the nut.

I repeatedly applied release agent to the nut part of the probe and used both clockwise and anti-clockwise force in order to get some initial movement and to work the release agent into the threads.

The job took me about an hour to complete. I then used Forscan to clear the fault and ran the engine for about 15 mins with the bonnet open in order to clear the smoke that burnt off the exhaust (whilst keeping an eye on it in case it burst into flames).
