This video shows how to fix the problem when your Mercedes key turns in your door lock, but does not lock or unlock your car. A likely problem is the lock cylinder guide spindle / rod that connects your outside door lock and to the inner locking mechanism. The lock cylinder guide spindle engages the vacuum based locking system to lock / unlock your vehicle. As you will see in this video, one of the cylinder guide spindles ends broke off causing the key to just turn. The video is specific to the W202 chassis (C-Series 1994-1997, C220, C280, etc.), but a similar approach to the repair can be applied to other (older) Mercedes vehicles with mechanical locks.
