Very important to service your Mercedes-Benz S-class cabin filter as this filters the air you breathe in the car. Also, delaying service may lead to the Mercedes S-class blower motor malfunction.
This is my experience diagnosing a Mercedes-Benz S430 W220 with no heat or air blowing from the vent. Therefore, it is important to replace the blower motor, the resistor, and the cabin filter all at once to maintain longevity. This may restore heat, A/C, and air blowing out of the vents.

As you can see, a neglect in servicing the cabin filter leads to a significant build-up.
