I have noticed a rumbling noise just recently coming from the engine of my SLK 320 (R170) and when I took it for the MOT a couple of weeks back the guy doing the MOT said that I should check the water pump as he thought it was where the noise was probably coming from, he was correct the pump has play in the bearing so will requiring replacing.
