Mercedes-Benz E350 Rear Shock Absorbers Replacement | 2010–2016 W212 DIY
In this video, I will be showing you how to replace the rear shock absorbers on a 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350 (W212) with the 3.5L V6 engine — step by step, start to finish.
This guide walks you through the complete rear shock replacement process on the W212 E-Class, including how to access the upper shock mounts through the trunk, remove the lower mounting bolt at the suspension knuckle, install the new shocks, and torque everything to spec. Whether your shocks are worn out or you're upgrading to performance units like Bilstein or Sachs, this repair will restore your ride quality and handling.
This video covers:
Lifting the vehicle and removing the rear wheels
Accessing and removing the upper shock mount nuts from the trunk interior
Removing the lower shock bolt at the rear suspension knuckle
Installing the new rear shock absorbers
Torquing the upper and lower fasteners to spec
Reinstalling the wheels and lowering the vehicle
This repair applies to the 2010–2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212, including the E350, E400, E550, and E63 AMG — both sedan and wagon body styles. Excludes vehicles with Airmatic (air suspension) and Adaptive Damping System (ADS), which require a different procedure.
If your E-Class is bouncing excessively after hitting bumps, rolling through corners, or the rear feels soft and vague, your rear shocks are likely worn and due for replacement.
