Mercedes-Benz W211 E-Class Parking Brake Adjustment
Your parking brake system is designed to hold your car still while it is parked. This is particularly important if your car is a stick shift. Mercedes Benz does not bring a manual transmission model 211 chassis to the United States. An automatic transmission has a parking pawl in the transmission that holds the drivetrain in place when the vehicle is in park. The parking brake system assists the parking pawl to hold the car still while there is stress placed on the parking pawl in the transmission from being parked on a hill. Parking brake shoes can wear out and every so often need to be adjusted to maintain their grip of the inner drum of the rear brake rotor. In this tech article we will go over all the steps to adjust your parking brake.
In order to adjust your parking brake you will need to lift and support the rear axle of your vehicle. See our tech article on jacking up and supporting your vehicle
