In this video, you will see how to replace the Air Conditioning compressor on the E320 W210 Mercedes Benz. However, the procedure applies to many other Mercedes models including the W220 series.

Before opening the A/C system, you must have all of the residual Freon professionally evacuated and recovered. This should not cost a lot.
Whenever you replace the A/C Compressor, you must replace your Receiver/Drier also. Here is a complete video on that:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGtosNkuZ5Q.

Should you need to replace your A/C Expansion Valve, I have a full video on that as well:

Also, here is a video on how to charge your A/C system with fresh R-134a Freon:

If you cannot afford the MB brand compressor, don't worry. There are two solid third party brands with very good reputation. Denso and Nissens.

You need to add 4.05 ounces (120 cubic centimeters) of compressor oil (PAG 46) to the compressor unless it comes prefilled with oil. Even then, if you are not sure it comes with PAG 46, drain it and replace it with PAG 46.

Keep in mind, compressor oils are mostly hygroscopic and absorb the moisture from the air. Moisture kills A/C systems. Therefore, minimize the amount of time your oil bottle is open, the compressor is open if prefilled with oil, or if any port to your A/C system is open for longer than a few minutes.

It is always a good idea to replace the two rubber gaskets at the tip of the two pressure lines connecting the Expansion Valve and the Condenser to the Compressor. Depending on when you last replaced the gaskets, consider replacing them. You can remove the two old gaskets and try to find matching gaskets at an auto parts store or buy the following packages:
