The alternator replacement is the last solution after all other procedures have failed to solve the charging problem . So after you checked the battery condition , the voltage regulator , check for any shortcircuits , than you can go ahead for the most expensive service : Remove and replace the alternator .
This job can be quite challenging when done on this Mercedes w203 c 200k , but a little bit of patience and the right tools , it can be done DIY at home , saving you a lot of money ! The process presented in this video is similar on c180 or c230 kompressor !
