Step-by-Step Installation

1. Disconnect the Battery
• Turn the ignition off.
• Disconnect the negative (–) battery terminal to prevent electrical short circuits.

2. Gain Access to the Alternator
• Open the bonnet.
• Remove any plastic engine covers if fitted.
• On some models, it helps to remove the air intake hose or air filter box for better access.

3. Loosen the Drive Belt
• Locate the alternator belt tensioner or adjustment bolt.
• Loosen the tensioner/adjuster bolt.
• Push the alternator inward to release belt tension.
• Slip the belt off the alternator pulley.

4. Disconnect Alternator Wiring
• Unplug the electrical connector.
• Remove the nut holding the main power cable (usually 10mm or 12mm).
• Move cables aside carefully.

5. Remove Alternator Mounting Bolts
• Remove the upper mounting bolt.
• Remove the lower mounting bolt.
• Support the alternator as you remove the last bolt.
• Lift the alternator out of the engine bay.

6. Install the New Alternator
• Position the new alternator in place.
• Install the lower mounting bolt loosely.
• Install the upper mounting bolt loosely.
• Align the alternator properly, then tighten both bolts securely.

7. Reconnect Electrical Connections
• Reattach the main power cable and tighten the nut.
• Plug in the electrical connector until it clicks.

8. Reinstall the Drive Belt
• Route the belt correctly around all pulleys.
• Pull the alternator outward to tension the belt.
• Tighten the adjustment/tensioner bolt.
• Check belt tension (about 10–12 mm of deflection).

9. Reinstall Removed Parts
• Refit the air intake hose, air box, and engine covers.

10. Reconnect the Battery
• Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

11. Test the Alternator
• Start the engine.
• Check for warning lights.
• Listen for unusual noises.
• Confirm charging voltage (approx. 13.8–14.5V at the battery).

Safety Notes
• Never work on the alternator with the battery connected.
