►The wheel bearing's only job is to allow the wheel and axle to rotate inside the suspension so that the vehicle moves forward or backward. When they start to fail, you'll hear a whirring or humming noise coming from the affected bearing while driving, and leaving it for too long can cause the bearing to seize and your wheel assembly to have a catastrophic failure. Luckily, replacing an R56 MINI's rear wheel bearings isn't an enormous task and can be completed in a DIY setting with just a few basic tools.
