Battery replacement on a Volvo XC60 2011 and should be the same or similar on 2008 - 2016 models.

The procedure below will reset the BMS (Battery Monitoring System)

On the negative battery terminal there is a two pin electrical connection. With the engine running remove this connector for 5 to 10 seconds and reconnect. This should reset the BMS.

Below is an alternative method which may work but I have not tried it. It may depend on the year of vehicle.

1. Switch on ignition (do not start engine)
2. Switch on dipped beam
3. Press the rear fog light button six times (on-off-on-off-on-off)
4. Press the hazard lights button three times (on-off-on)
5. The battery symbol on the dash should flash quickly three times.
