How to replace the timing chain on a 2012 Nissan Juke with 1.6l Turbo - Heavy damage!

This 2012 Nissan Juke has it first timing chain replaced by the factory at 16K miles. The customer brought his car to me with 64K miles stating it has a loud noticeable rattle coming from the engine bay. Doing a quick once over the noise was coming from the Timing Chain area, sounds like a broken guide or worse - a stretched chain. The factory recall does not cover two chain replacements, only one. And Bent Oaks is the Cheapest in town. You can expect to pay about $1,050 to $1,400 for a new timing set for your 1.6L turbo charged car. We do it for $500, includes parts, labor and materials used.

Once we took off the valve cover the damage could be seen right away. The timing chain was stretched and the tensioner was all the way out. There was one broken guide on the front side that let the chain dig into the engine. There was no tension on the guide on the back side allowing the chain to eat into the cover.

We ended up doing an oil change after this cause we noticed the oil that did come out was shiny and silver color. This is caused by the aluminum contaminating the oil when the metal chain was rubbing against it.
