How to Test and Replace Glow Plugs on Toyota Avensis 2.0 D-4D (Step-by-Step) (P0380 Fix)

Fix the P0380 error code and cold start issues on your Toyota Avensis 2.0 D-4D! In this video, I will show you how to safely diagnose faulty glow plugs using a multimeter and how to replace them without snapping them in the cylinder head.
We will go through the entire process: from removing the engine cover and power rail to testing resistance and installing new plugs with the correct torque settings.
Tools Used:
Socket set (10mm, 8mm)
Long/Deep socket (12mm) for the plugs
Multimeter
Torque Wrench (highly recommended)
Penetrating oil (for stuck plugs)
Torque Specifications:
Glow Plugs: 13 Nm (Do not overtighten!)
Video Chapters: 0:00 - Intro & P0380 Error 0:06 - Step 1: Removing the D-4D Engine Cover 0:21 - Step 2: Locating the Glow Plugs 0:31 - Step 3: Removing the Power Rail (Watch out for the nuts!) 0:56 - Step 4: How to Test Glow Plugs with a Multimeter 1:22 - Step 5: Safe Removal (Unscrewing Tips) 1:52 - Step 6: Cleaning the Threads 2:01 - Step 7: Installing New Plugs (13 Nm Torque) 2:36 - Step 8: Final Assembly & Test Run
Important Safety Tip: When unscrewing old glow plugs (Step 5), it is best to work on a slightly warm engine. Heat expands the metal and helps release the threads. Use a 12mm deep socket and turn gently. If you meet resistance, apply penetrating oil and wait. Do not use excessive force!
